It's that time of the year again, pickling season, or maybe we should call it a festival (sure has those vibes!). The women gather to wash, cut, and dry the fruit in the sun, filling the air with the sweet-sour aroma of the tender fruit. There is a sense of urgency on the farm as they go about this arduous task, carefully & meticulously mixing the spices, ensuring the highest level of hygiene, adding in some fragrant oils as preservative and most importantly, keeping us away from the courtyard where all the action takes place, lest we sample the fruit of their labour too soon!
This sweet & sour deliciousness is unarguably one of the simplest, must have condiments of every Indian kitchen. Diced juicy lemons marinated in spices and preserved in their own juices, add flavour & taste to every meal they are paired with. Our tangy sweet pickle, prepared the traditional way, goes well with all Indian cuisines. The Barosi lemon pickle is handmade, in small batches to ensure the best flavour & taste. Pair it with hot paranthas, a meal of dal chawal, add a tinge of tanginess to your khichdi or add some sweet & sour flavour to your breakfast of poha or upma - have it the way your heart desires and we promise you delight with every bite!
